The New Stand is a reimagining of the traditional news stand that commuters encounter on their daily commute. Stocked with quirky and unique products that are rotated out on a regular basis, the New Stand entices straphangers to check back regularly. The concept behind the design centered on referencing common elements of a traditional subway news stand but in an upgraded form. Marble tile are set in the same module as subways tiles; pegboards are used with brass grommets; and harsh fluorescents are replaced with calming diffusers. The designs shown here fit within a larger ecosystem of branding that included a visual identity, mobile app, and website.
