Stock House was developed in response to growing societal trends demanding greater speed in everyday activities. That speed can take the form of faster transportation, faster access to information and faster communication. Stock House has been designed to provide a living space for those who wish to find respite from those conditions.
Stock House is designed to endure over time as a family heirloom, which will in turn also house family valuables—whether they be artifacts, family recipes, or memories and stories. Each space in the house has been charged with a velocity, slow or fast, which is reinforced by its location in the building and the materials with which it has been clad. The high velocity areas include circulation space and the guest room, while the areas of the house which are designed to promote storing and sharing, including the family room, kitchen, master suite and archive, have been demarcated with a lower velocity.
