This project emerged as an outcome of my own explorations on what a responsive environment might be. Ultimately taking the form of a room-scale installation, the project began with the design of a singular self-contained fixture. This fixture has a built in shotgun microphone and a WiFi enabled processor unit. Each fixture reacts to sounds by closing or inversely opening as a reaction to quiet. When aggregated across a space, the fixtures provide a visual feedback mechanism for identifying activity across a given space.
