Bahá’í Calendar

I am a Bahá’í, and like all world religions, the Bahá’í Faith has a unique calendar. I have never seen a calendar that effectively celebrated its unique structure, so I set out to design one. The calendar has several unique qualities that require a custom designed format:

• It has 19 months
• Each month has 19 days
• There is a 4 or 5 intercalary day to align the calendar with a solar year
• The first day of the year is Naw Rúz which coincides with the vernal equinox.
  

With this challenge also came the opportunity to shed light on other aspects of the calendar like the unique names of each day of the week that the Bahá’í Calendar has. Ultimately what has resulted is a diagram of a year viewed through a uniquely Bahá’í lens which is exactly what a calendar should do.
